What is Microsoft SQL Server Data Transformation Services?

What is DTS?

DTS gives you the ability to import, export, and convert data between data sources, either locally or remotely. For example you could export data from your SQL server to Microsoft Excel or Access and vice versa. You could even move data between two SQL servers.

Why would I want to use DTS?

The most common uses of DTS is to move data between a development and production environment, or to create a front and back-end to a database structure.
