Enabling PayPal Express Checkout for Zencart

Isolated Sandbox to test your ecommerce solutions

NOTE: This article assumes you already have the following:
• PayPal Business or Premier account
• ZenCart is installed
• You have already Enabled and configured PayPal Express Checkout inside ZenCart

Step 1: Enabling Express Checkout at PayPal

1. Log into your PayPal Business account and navigate to the profile section

2. Once the profile overview loads click on the “API Access” Link Under the “Account Information” header

3. Click the “Request API signature” radio button, then make sure to agree and submit the request by clicking the appropriate button.

4. If you have already requested an API signature click on “View or Remove Credentials” under the “Setting up PayPal API Credentials and Permissions” heading.

5. Once the request is processed there will be an API Signature listed in the credentials section.

Important: You will need the API Username, Password and Signature from here in order to get Express Checkout set up in ZenCart. Therefore, PLEASE write this information down exactly as it is listed. You may also want to copy the value for the Signature Hash and paste it in a separate file for latter use.

Step 2: Enabling Express Checkout Within Zencart Payment Modules

1. Log into your ZenCart admin.

2. Hover over "Modules" and click on "Payment".

3. Click on “PayPal Express Checkout” in the Payment Modules list. Where prompted click “Install”

4. When Zencart asks if you want to enable this payment module you will select "true".

5. Scroll down to the section where it asks for the API Signature – Username, Password and Signature code. Enter the information from the end of step 1 and click the "Update" button.

Congratulations! Zencart is now ready to use PayPal Express Checkout.
