How do I add System Data Source Names (DSNs) for SQL and Access?

System DSN's are used to access databases from server side scripts. These can be added from within the Control Center by following the directions below. Login to the Control Center at https://www.webcontrolcenter.com/domain.aspx and from the menu item "Database", select "Datasource Admin".

Most development tools require connection strings to be able to access server side databases. Some tools will build these for you while others will require you to create them yourself. The "Test Datasource" feature tests that the database is accessable through the datasource and generates a simple connection string that may be used.

For examples of connection strings, see http://www.connectionstrings.com

A DataSource is an object that sits on the web server and communicates to the database for the website. It acts as the middle man between the web site and database.
